‘The humble seashell epitomises the wonder and miracle of our natural world. Forged of minerals and proteins that build up in layers over time, a shell creates safety and protection for the mollusc inside. There is science and purpose to its creation. And yet - what a thing of beauty it remains. Fanning out in logarithmic spirals like a Fibonacci masterpiece, their exquisite design is a thing to marvel. A feat of biochemistry, mathematics and purpose, the shell seems to rise from the ocean transfigured from its pragmatic underwater role to that of a great human treasure; a symbol of beauty, resilience and tranquility since time immemorial.’
